I saw a question posed by one of my Facebook friends a few minutes ago that really caused me to reflect, but which also elicited a quick and passionate response.
Question was:
In this day and time, besides God’s love, can someone tell me what does love have to do with anything right now?
And my response was:
My friend, love controls your attitude and consequently your actions. For example, God created us and loves us and that is why he provides for us.
Consequently, that is why we would care for those we love and expect the same in return from those who claim to love us.
Problem is….we never really learn to love until we have been hurt so bad that we begin to think that love doesn’t exist.
Then we reach out to the One, the only One who knows true love and if we are lucky, we get another opportunity to find the right one to rock our world!

I hear this question coming from a place of hurt that I have been through too many times! And so it really made me do some introspection. I realize that I had been over and through that, been there done that, had my heart broken in a zillion pieces, been loved and abused to the point where I thought ‘this is it’!
For some people, they trod on in the quest to find ‘true love’, others take a break, me – I still do not really know!
Actually that may not be accurate. Really thinking about, I think I have subconsciously decided to find love from the Only One who knows love and that is Jesus Christ. See, when you do that, things happen for you and you begin to discover love in your children and your family and your friends and your co workers and fellow students and even in the stranger you meet by the wayside.
Sometimes, although that’s the way God intended for it to be, it’s not always about eros love, that romantic love between a man and a woman. Perhaps we should learn to practice our love for God and learn to love ourselves first and maybe then we will truly experience real love.
And funny enough, some of us may never again have that eros love. But I can tell you, when you have, as in my case, a God who cares about you and provides for you despite your unbelief at times and despite your disobedience, and when you have three beautiful girls who tell you countless times how much they love you and think that you’re all that, nothing can compare!
