I generally shy away from blogging under articles and this is sad because blogging is a great way to express your views and garner public opinion on any topic.
I have noticed that people love to blog but do so under a made up name.
I want to believe, based on what I observe, that this is done to hide their identity. Why? I conclude, maybe wrongly so, that this is because the majority of the blogs are negative and not constructive to the topic at hand.
The bloggers who hide behind pseudonyms generally write with hatred, malice, envy, no good intentions and to stir up bad blood! They often use several names to get several points across, trying to make people think that this negativity is popular.
Seldom you would find bloggers commenting on something positive and funny enough even if they do, they still use pseudonyms! Am I missing something?
Ok, perhaps in a small society one does not want to be labelled as being affiliated with a particular group or subscribing to a certain opinion.
If this is for fear of recrimination, that is sad. Because in a democratic society, one must be allowed to have a voice, freely. Once of course you are not creating a riot or anything of the sort that would cause harm to people.
If this is just adopting or adapting to the status quo, that is also sad. We should feel free to take a stand and be leaders not followers, as appropriate. We should not feel pressured into doing as the crowd does, for very often we find that that is not the best thing to do.
But of course, who likes to be criticized or ridiculed? No one!
Most bloggers tend to attack other bloggers as opposed to discussing the issue at hand.
What kind of community are we developing if we relish tearing down as opposed to building up? Do we consider the legacy or lack thereof we are leaving for our children and future generations if we continue to contribute to this vile? Does it matter at all?
I dare say it does, it should, it must!
And to be clear, this is not a call for bloggers to use their real names. This would be a call for everyone, while contributing to a debate, to be constructive!
